Infracost Announcement

Upcoming Changes to the InfraCost Integration

What are the changes?

Infracost recently made us aware that they are making significant changes to their pricing and packaging resulting in the Cloud Pricing Server becoming private instead of a free self-hosted version, which is what Scalr runs internally for all of our customers.

As a result of this change, we will no longer be able to offer Infracost in the same way we currently do.

In the coming weeks, we will seamlessly migrate all accounts to use the SaaS version of the Infracost Cloud Pricing Server and users will not see any impact until June 30th, 2024.

What happens on June 30th, 2024?

We have negotiated with the Infracost team to allow free usage of the Infracost Cloud Pricing Server server until June 30th, 2024. Beyond that date, you will have to sign up for an account with Infracost to enable the integration with Scalr.

What if I want to continue to use Infracost beyond June 30th?

You can continue to use Infracost by signing up for an account and adding the Infracost integration. The Infracost service is free up to 1,000 runs per month. See more on the pricing details here.

To enable the integration, go to the account scope, and integrations, and click on Infracost. Then sign up for Infracost and past the key in:

Once the key is added, click Test connection. After the connection is successfully tested, click create connection.

Once saved, you can control which environments have access to the integration by clicking on the integration and going to Environments access:

I don’t need Infracost, how can I turn off the integration?

We will automatically prevent runs from erroring if an Infracost key has not been added to your account by June 30th. If you want to turn the integration off sooner, you can disable it in the environment settings or open a ticket with the Scalr team and we can disable it for the entire account.

What happens if I forget to sign up for the service or forget to turn off the integration?

We will automatically disable the cost estimation step in the run pipeline for accounts that have not added the Infracost integration prior to June 30th to ensure your runs do not fail.
